Here is a list of general resources available to directors of food co-ops:
- Canadian Cooperative Association’s website contains the latest research, best practices and lessons learned on issues related to co-operative governance and leadership. Site also includes their Governance Matters newsletter, e-toolkits and a number of additional resources.
- CDS Consulting Co-op provides consultation, training, facilitation and coaching to build organizational alignment and enhance the working relationship between board and management of co-ops. They offer distant learning workshops, one-on-one consulting and a variety of other services to help strengthen the leadership team of co-ops.
- CDS Consulting Co-op Library is available for all board members to access. Library contains online recorded workshops, bundles of resources on various topics, and other beneficial information.
- Cooperative Grocer is a bi-monthly magazine produced for the managers and directors of food co-ops. Website includes all current and past articles, list of special publications, directory of food co-ops and other lists of other resources.
- NCGA Western Corridor’s LEAD program. This program,called “LEAD” – Leadership Effectiveness and Development – is aimed at supporting board effectiveness, continued professional development and camaraderie among co-op board members in the NCGA’s western corridor. Thanks to the Western Corridor, all board members can access this informative resource.
- Policy Governance® is an integrated set of concepts and principles that describes the job of any governing board.
